Mix some Martin Sexton with Josh Ritter, throw a dash of Stevie Wonder, a pinch of The Weepies, a little bit of Jason Mraz, and you're getting close to the soulful, witty, and moving folk-rock songwriter performance of Connor Garvey. His music brightens rooms, brings smiles, and leaves people with hope, joy, and a tune to hum.
A universal message that people can grab hold to…just the kind of thing I needed. " -Dennis Bigelow (Music Director), KRFC- Fort Collins,CO
"...proves you can be optimistic and self-aware without being boring." - Aimsel Ponti (The Portland Press Herald, Portland, ME)
"The songs of Connor Garvey have that rare and balanced blend of refreshing lyric, inventive guitar work, and mesmerizing grooves, all powered by his clear and agile singing voice. Ranging from funky to sensitive, serious to playful, they convey the kind of inspiration found in a reverent pursuer of life's depths and joys. Whether it's hearing him live on stage or on one of his recordings I'm always uplifted and amazed." -Chris Cunningham (Storyhill and Basecamp Recording)

I'm a live-music junkie, internet geek, aspiring performing songwriter and sometimes poet with a taste for indie-girl folk music in particular. I also host the Lyrical Venus Radio Hour every Tuesday from 9-10 on kruufm.com
While I focus on female singer-songwriters for my blog, we are open to having artists of any genre or gender to perform at our house. Crowds may not be huge, but they will be appreciative and attentive, and we're a good in-between spot from bigger cities that are about 5 hours away in one direction or another: Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, Lincoln, etc.
